re:Source Bristol is an exciting new urban ministry project.
At heart re:source is a group of people who are passionate about our city of Bristol. We are helping to develop a strategic Christian response to the challenges faced in areas of urban deprivation in Bristol and we want to encourage churches and individuals to get involved.
There are two types of area in Bristol that suffer from serious long term deprivation - multicultural areas around the centre of the city and white working class estates often towards the edge of the city.
Traditionally Baptist churches have been right at the heart of these urban areas. Along with other denominations, they have played a central role in the welfare of the city often being at the forefront of tackling social injustice and poverty. But recent decades have seen a serious decline of these urban churches with a number closing down. We face a huge challenge but at the same time an exciting opportunity to develop new creative and strategic approaches to urban ministry and mission.
Re:Source is a response to this challenge by the Baptist denomination. Our conviction is that vibrant Christ-centred communities are a vital for the welfare or 'shalom' of the city. Our invitation to you is to participate in this exciting journey with us.
